BLACK ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

The South African legacy of historical discrimination against people of colour makes it imperative that a pillar supporting the existence of winning and truly South African companies be a drive towards erasing the imbalances created by the past. That critical pillar is the empowerment of Black people in society, the workplace, as well as through their ownership and involvement in the management of companies. In so doing one can fundamentally transform South African business, and therefore contribute to the character of a society that is capable of competing effectively with the world.

To this end, OBS has undergone a deliberate process of sourcing skills from previously disadvantaged individuals. Where some of our people do not as yet have the required skills but have potential, we mentor and educate, both practically and via formal training courses.
